cdg@christinagonzalez.com BioI grew up in a small Southern town (it didn’t have a McDonald’s until I was ten) and moved to Miami when I was 14. I am proud to be the daughter of Cuban parents and my debut novel, THE RED UMBRELLA (to be published by Knopf in 2010) is loosely based on my parents' own experience and that of 14,000 other children who were part of Operation Pedro Pan (the largest exodus of unaccompanied minors in the Western Hemisphere).
